Design Director for BBH Stockholm

The position

As the Design Director of BBH Stockholm, you will have the unique opportunity to continuously develop and evolve the agency’s product and positioning. Specifically, you will own and drive the creative direction and design strategy of the agency, leading by example and ensuring on-time deliverances of top-tier service design and digital brand experiences. You will work closely with other disciplines, including UX and tech, fostering a culture of cross-disciplinary collaboration. Additionally, you will be vital in the identification and action of design opportunities as well as communication in terms of ideation and the production of inspiring storytelling in Swedish and English.

You will act as a centerpiece in the representation of BBH Stockholm’s design team, advocating for user- centered design practices and using your business acumen as well as craft expertise to change and challenge customer perspectives, daring them to take unanticipated steps to influence the world through innovative and complex design perspectives and solutions. Moreover, you will oversee the creation of award entries and case studies of key projects, ensuring they are distributed across the business to relevant people (e.g. client team).

As a member of the management team, you will be a proactive driving force in the continuous development of their people and the agency’s product. Leading a collaborative and transparent culture, you will strive to increase the overall level of craft, identifying skillset gaps, enabling upskilling, and nurturing the professional as well as personal development of the design team. This includes the recruitment of promising and skilled creatives and making sure that everyone feels seen, heard and motivated. Lastly, you will have a key role in the development and execution of the agency’s PR and marketing strategy

More specifically, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Own and drive the creative direction and design strategy of the agency

  • Lead by example in terms of best-in-class service design and digital brand experiences

  • Identify and act on design opportunities for new and existing clients

  • Nurturing the career path and personal development of the design team, making sure everyone is

    seen, heard and motivated

  • Continuously push level of craft by identifying skillset gaps and enabling upskilling

  • Lead a collaborative feedback culture, encouraging transparency and presentation

  • Lead the recruitment of new designers and creatives

  • Continuously evolve the agency’s product and positioning in a competitive and changing industry

    landscape

  • Collaborate with other parts of BBH and Publicis Groupe to realize synergies from a product,

    people, and business perspective

Your profile

The ideal candidate for this role comes with a heightened focus on digital product design and a deep understanding of user-centered design principles within digital contexts. With a proven history of delivering conceptual and strategic work for clients, you constantly challenge your team and clients to push boundaries. With a challenger mindset, you are never content with the status quo and always aim to influence the world through design.

You are an experienced leader, a true cultural ambassador, who can bring the best out of people, driving seamless cross-disciplinary teamwork and providing ample room for constructive communication in sparring as well as feedback. You have approximately 10 years of experience in creative roles, with prior experience in a similar agency setting required. A background from the client side or in a start-up business is considered an advantage.

With a remarkable approach to system thinking, you are an analytical and driven individual. In this, you are capable of keeping a coherent and structured overview, able to identify interconnectedness and perceive objects from multiple perspectives and move across silos. Aside from creative acumen, you are able to provide context from a business-perspective when considering your responsibilities and actions. Finally, you are proficient written and verbal skills in English and Swedish.
