At MillerKnoll, a unique culture represents the collective attitudes, ideas, and experiences of the people who work there. They focus on protecting the environment, impacting our communities, exceeding the expectations of our customers through high-quality products, and championing diversity in all areas of the business.
About the position
In the position you will be providing financial leadership for a multi-market, multi-channel business operation and its multi-generational workforce (277 FTE) – responsible for the sustainable, profitable growth of the end-to-end HAY business, globally in its entirety; Retail (including Wholesale) and Contract business. You will be leading the forecast process for HAY and supporting the business segments in MillerKnoll with a focus on continuous improvement of their forecast accuracy across all financial metrics.
Furthermore, you will be managing the three-year Business Planning process by defining the financial components in line with MillerKnoll's financial strategies. It is your responsibility to define a balanced Operational Finance Plan and budget, derived from the three-year financial plan – including one-year objectives and ensuring compliance with regional and global objectives. This also entails ensuring qualitative and quantitative data insights to drive higher business performance.
A central part of the role also consists of developing the function and ensuring optimal development and execution of all financial processes by introducing consistent tools and methodologies. You will be expected to raise the bar on talent by developing people & teams both functionally and as pipelines for succession.
You will be based in Horsens, Denmark, and will be reporting to the VP Finance MillerKnoll Global Retail & the MD HAY – this role is a key member of both the HAY Management Team (the MT) and the MillerKnoll Leadership Group – Forum. It is expected that you can take on traveling approx. 20% of the time.
The ideal candidate comes with a relevant academic educational background in a relevant field, preferably holding an MBA. Furthermore, you have at least ten years of experience leading a Finance function, and it is an advantage if the function was held within a publicly-traded company. Also, it is highly desirable if you hold experience in the Contract and/or Retail segments of the design industry.
As a person, the ideal candidate is a strategic-doer – who is able to move quickly from strategy into action, whilst leading from the front and by example. You’ll be the epitome of a high-performing team leader– galvanizing people together, acting as a relationship builder and a network creator. Collaboration across teams will be a signature strength in this role.
Furthermore, you hold a strong intellectual curiosity, and you are highly business savvy – this entails being a creative thinker and that you take interest in the bigger picture. It is essential that you hold an entrepreneurial and commercial mindset, giving you sound financial acumen, making you an operational thinker, and finally an impressive planner. It is additionally imperative that you are purpose-driven and value-led, and that you can demonstrate being able to lead and develop high performing teams.
Embodying qualities of honesty and humility, you’ll have sincerity and modesty about you that people at all levels of the organization will find approachable, open, and candid. In addition to this, your drive to win will be off the charts – but not at any cost. You’ll lead with the sense of duty that permeates the corridors at both HAY & MillerKnoll – making the right decisions today, for tomorrow. This means playing the long game by relentlessly out-gaming the competitive set.
